A rare albino buffalo born in Bangladesh has been rescued and taken to the National Zoo as it was about to be sacrificed on the day of Eid al-Adha.
The albino buffalo has been nicknamed ‘Donald Trump’ because it has a golden tuft of hair like US President Donald Trump. The buffalo weighed 700 kg and was sold for Eid al-Adha. But after public interest in the buffalo increased, government officials intervened, saying it posed a security threat. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed then instructed the buyer to return the purchase price and safely transfer the buffalo to the National Zoo in the capital, Dhaka. People had thronged to see the albino buffalo, which went viral on social media. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the buffalo is now under special protection.
