Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A27 5G, succeeding last year’s Galaxy A26 5G. While the Galaxy A27 incorporates several anticipated enhancements, it also presents some unexpected reductions in features. A key focus of this device is the integration of Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities into this price segment, alongside a notable transition in the processor from Exynos to Snapdragon for the first time in this series.
The Galaxy A27 5G has a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400 nits peak brightness, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens, with a 12MP front camera. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging and runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5, backed by Samsung Knox Vault for security.
For a comprehensive understanding, it is important to note that several specifications have been adjusted compared to the Galaxy A26. The IP rating has transitioned from IP67, which provided protection against submersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes, to IP64, offering protection solely against splashes. The ultrawide camera resolution has decreased from 8MP to 5MP, and the front-facing camera has been adjusted from 13MP to 12MP, although Samsung indicates that the new front sensor delivers enhanced dynamic range and improved color accuracy to offset this change. Additionally, the Bluetooth version has been updated from 5.3 to 5.1. While these individual modifications may not be critical, it is prudent to be aware of them to avoid presuming an unqualified upgrade in all aspects.
